Slow "Look In" performance on Windows 2K Server domain

We have a problem on our W2K Server domain. When you click File/Open
in, say, Word 2000 or Excel 2000, and then click the down arrow to
expand the "Look In" dropdown, it takes 20-30 seconds for the dropdown
to respond. There is no hourglass. After this is done the first time,
subsequent "Look In" dropdowns occur without the delay.

Any suggestions on how to resolve or troubleshoot this would be
greatly appreciated.

Log on to the machine using another user account (i know
its not recommended, nevertheless)and try the same
procedure, if this works fine it means that it is a
profile issue.
