Slow Logoff / Strange Log Events

Problem: For some reason Vista is EXTREMELY slow at logging off users.
(Taking between 5-7 minutes) which seems totally ridiculous to me. On my
laptop, which is half as 'powerful' as this desktop, only took 10-30 seconds
to log off.

System: Vista Business 32bit (w/ all updates), 2.8Ghz Pentium D (dualcore),
1024MB RAM
Network: everything local; no domain.

I have checked to make sure that nothing strange is starting up/running,
scanned for virus/spyware, and even defragmented my HD. I looked at the event
log and found an interesting error that seems to occur each time anyone logs
off:

Event 5, Kernel-General
{Registry Hive Recovered} Registry hive (file): '\??\C:\Users\Shawn
McCuan\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat' was corrupted and it has
been recovered. Some data might have been lost.

Any suggestions?

Well, that is the Classes portion of the registry - it contains info on
how all the files and file type interact with each other. I don't even
think there is a backup of that section. I would run checkdsk, and if
it keeps up, do a repair install.

About the logoff times - it might also be an issue with the Pentium D. I
have C2D T5600 and it takes it less than a minute (still too much, IMO).
Although I'm not a professional, looking at the error message you've posted
I'm thinking you've got either some software installed that causes problems
at some stage of logoff/on or you have some problem in files associated with
your user profile in Windoze. Looking at the error message I'm thinking it
takes you so much time because there's some problem and Windoze tries to
salvage whatever possible.
