Disk defrag - x64 Event log ?

I've been installing a lot of stuff to get x32 and x64 going and now I'm
done, so this morning I thought I'd defrag my drives. I right-clicked on c-
properties - tools - defrag and it's different than XP/2000/etc - you can't
" analyze" to see the current status of the drive. I checked in XP and they
were badly fragmented so I rebooted into X64 vista to try defrag app. But
when I choose defrag of one drive, it does all of my drives ( all 7
partitions on 2 drives) without my asking/picking/selecting. That needs to
be fixed - give me a checkbox for each drive !
Well I started it and went out for the day and just returned (12 hrs later)
to find pc in sleep mode ( yeah I forget to turn off powersaving so went to
sleep after one hr). I hit the space bar- the PC turned on but I couldn't
get the monitor to "wake up " from sleep mode ( just yellow LED - wouldn't
go green). I waited a while - saw disk activity led on Pc blinking
occasionally . I tried CTRL_ALT_DEL - then S ( for shutdown) - nothing
happened after a few times, so I hit the reset button. ( try CTRL_ALT_DEL -
not same options now) Upon selecting x64 from boot menu, I got a " system
was not shutdown properly" message. I chose "Last known good". It came back
up fine, BUT: ( here's my questions / opinion - what's yours?)
1. How do I check the drive ( old " ANALYZE") to show me the current
fragmentation of the drive ?
2. Anyway to have it check just one drive - rather than the default being
all drives and maybe 6+ hours if badly fragmented etc ?
3. Why didn't my monitor " wake up ?" like PC did ?

4. How come when looking at event log there is no up/down arrow ? I went
there to view disk defrag times/drives .
5. My Event log for apps is full of "stuff" - if I try to go online to
decode the msgs - I get " help not found ( it GOEs there but no online help
for system event msgs ?) I tried to "Filter" , so I uncheck all but errors
and "OK" is greyed out - so how do I proceed? Making it too tough to do
simple things.
Event log is full of stuff like this:
Log Name: Security
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Eventlog
Date: 7/9/2006 10:18:12 PM
Event ID: 1101
Task Category: Runtime problem with processing an event
Level: Error
Keywords: Audit Success
User: N/A
Computer: AMDx64
Description:
Audit events have been dropped by the transport. The reason code is 34.

SAYS AUDIT "SUCCESS" - IS THIS GOOD OR BAD ?
Being "Dropped" doesn't sound like it's a good thing .

and ANOTHER:
Log Name: Application
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Security-Licensing-SLC
Date: 7/9/2006 10:18:26 PM
Event ID: 1005
Task Category: None
Level: Information
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: AMDX64
Description:
The result of Windows Right consumption is: hr=0x0
IS A RESULT OF 0X0 GOOD ?

and this:

Log Name: Application
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Reliability-Analysis-Agent
Date: 7/9/2006 10:09:07 PM
Event ID: 1001
Task Category: None
Level: Information
Keywords: Reliability
User: LOCAL SERVICE
Computer: AMDx64
Description:
Reliability Analysis execution time was 4259 milliseconds.

Should it be 10 or 5000 ? Is higher better ? you get the idea - how can we
anaylze problems/ potential problems if our tools are in a foreign language
?

and this:
Log Name: Application
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Search
Date: 7/9/2006 10:20:00 PM
Event ID: 3083
Task Category: Gatherer
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: AMDX64
Description:
The protocol handler Search.Mapi2Handler.1 cannot be loaded. Error
description: Class not registered.

However when I click on it = bad webpage. Makes it tough to see how
anything in here helps me. Might as well NOT have an event log for now.

Anyone ?

1. x64 vista - How do I check the drive ( old " ANALYZE") to
show me the current fragmentation of the drive ?
2. Anyway to have it check just one drive - rather than the
default being all drives and maybe 6+ hours if badly fragmented etc ?

Best bet with Vista is to just leave it alone. It has built in, always
active, defrag that will keep the disk defragged over time. Works when
you're not busy.

from a command prompt
defrag "drive" /a
"drive" is the drive letter to check.
