Slow loading design templates when opening PowerPoint.

When I open my PowerPoint program, the standard design templates are taking
about 30 minutes to completely load. I have performed a clean sweep of my
hard disk so that is not an issue here. Back some time ago, the templates
seemed to load perfectly well. Does anyone have an answer for this problem?

I was having this problem as well recently out of nowhere with PPT 2003 and
accidentally just figured out how to fix it. I closed PPT (since when I
tried to view slide designs it was using 100% of my CPU) and went to where
the templates are stored in
C:\programfiles\microsoft\office\templates\presentationdesigns. I changed
the file view to thumbnails, then re opened PPT and opened the slide design
panel and they all came up right away. I went back to the folder that the
templates are stored in and changed the view back to whatever it was when I
first went to it and then reopened PPT and they still loaded nice and quick,
as they should. I guess they just needed to be refreshed or something but in
any case... hope this is helpful.
