I recently installed Office 2007 and now experience the following problems:
1. Links within an E-Mail message take a long time to open (approximately 90
seconds).
2. Whenever Internet Explorer closes I receive a message that it has
experienced a problem and must close.

Both would indicate an issue with IE and not Outlook. I'd start with
checking your IE addins and disable/uninstall/update them if necessary.
You can ask in an IE newsgroup for further assistance on how to do that and
to further troubleshoot your issues.
