Slow link response

A funny problem has showed up in the last few weeks. Whenever I click on a
link in my e-mail or on any web site that I'm on the window that comes up is
very slow. It takes at lease tow or three minutes for the link to respond.
Sometimes it doesn't respond. The courser will turn into a pointing finger
when placed over the link. I click on the link and the hand stays until the
link response. The page fails to freezes until the link responds. also dose
this on the newsgroup links. What possibly could be causing this?

what other software is running on your pc?

what software is "running" (resident software) on your machine (not
"installed") ie. anti-viri, software firewalls ect.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

The Second Question of Windows Troubleshooting: what is the
malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean, what
programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?
