There was a sudden slow down of computer start-up and especially of IE6 launching. The only change I made was installing and removing a USB mass storage device (SanDisk mini Cruzer).

Sudhir,

For Windows ME/XP, try a system restore rollback.

If it happens to Internet Explorer only, it may be due to malware BHOs. BHO [ Browser Helper Objects ] load with both iexplore and explorer instances. You may try disabling the malware BHO using ToolbarCop, to start with. If disabling a BHO solves the problem, delete the BHO and run Ad-Aware scan.

Using ToolbarCop to remove the unwanted Toolband, Toolbar Icons and BHO:

I had a launch slow-down after installing fix KB832894.
There is now a delay of about 15 seconds when I initially
launch IE6 before the browser screen first appears.
I reported on this yesterday, but so far no new
information.
