Slow initial login

Recently my XP machine (SP 2) has been very slow when I log in with my user
name and password. The "Welcome loading your settings" hangs for at least a
minute before logging in.

My Computer Management -> Event viewer -> Application shows the following
(if this is of any help):

Event Type: Error
Event Source: SecurityCenter
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1802
Date: 5/31/2005
Time: 7:27:47 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ATHLON
Description:
The Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries
with WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus and Firewall.

I'm running PC-Cillin and have the XP firewall switched off.

Any ideas?

Try uninstalling PC-Cillin from Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Restart and reinstall.
