Slow frame rate after system restore

Thanks for the advice Gerry
I never saw those logs before.

These are the errors and warnings.
I can see the one relating to the internal clock time, and I sorted that
manually.
The slow frame rate is another matter. I don't know if these logs relate
specifically to that issue?

Your help is appreciated

Regards

David

Cooked Counter isn't something I knew I was using Gerry.
In fact I wouldn't know what to do with it.
I am not involved with law enforcement either way.

There in information report or service listed where you indicated.

The snipurl links failed to work: @cannot find server@ error message.

But I appreciate the time you put in trying to help me.
The slow frame rate may be something I will have to live with.

kind regards

Dave

Hello

I had a problem with what must have been an undetected virus.

Today when I tried to start up my PC it failed to boot.
It got as far as a blue screen that disappeared very quickly and the PC shut
down before it had fully booted.

I went through this process many times, so that I could read what was
written on the blue screen (I managed one word at a time).

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer" was the gist of the message - and then something
about "unmountable...boot..." I think.

In desperation, I reset my PC to the factory settings.

I am now up and running but things don't seem the same:

A) My keyboard has gone a bit haywire and the " key now writes as @ and
vice-versa.

B) The time on my PC reset itself 8 hours slow.

C) The main problem is a very slow "frame-rate" for want of a better phrase.
Whenever I scroll up and down on a web page or even within this email, I get
a line across the screen and the movement up and down the page is very slow
and jerky.

Could someone please advise me on any of these issues, but mainly the slow
frame-rate?
If I can get that back to it's previous fast pace, I will be much happier.

regards

Dave

Please check Event Viewer for Warning / Error Reports in the System and
Application logs for the last boot and post copies.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

What are you using Cooked Counter Provider for?
http://snipurl.com/lt6w

Are you involved with Law Enforcement? The reference
to crd service is an odd! Is there any Service listed?
Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

Is there an Information Report calling or trying to Start
the crd service?

For Event ID: 1517 download and install the User
Profile Hive Cleanup Service
Download details: User Profile Hive Cleanup Service

UPHClean v1.5e readme.txt

Event ID: 51 could be a defective CD. Try another CD.

Your clock is still not functioning correctly. It is placing you in
California or thereabout whereas your address puts you in the UK.
Watch your time as time loss can indicate a hardware problem
e.g. a failing BIOS battery.

Start, Control Panel, Time Zone and select GMT.

Links not working -they may break

The inability to translate snipurl links may be another problem.

What do you mean by the expression "slow frame rate"?

Reboot your computer after correcting the time. What is the first
Warning / Error Report to appear?
