Slow email delete Outlook 2007 SP2 and Windows 7 RTM

I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 RTM and Office Standard 2007.
Did all the Windows updates and am noticing that it takes between 4-6 seconds
to delete an email in Outlook 2007. This did not occur under Vista and
Outlook 2007. I did a serach and found the suggetsion to run SCANPST.EXE
(which did discover and fix some errors), but I still have the same problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

What kind of e-mail account are you working with? (e.g. POP3, IMAP, or
Exchange)

If a Microsoft Exchange account, are you running the mailbox in cached mode?
If not in cached mode, is the default delivery location the Exchange mailbox
or a local PST?

It's a POP3 with Comcast. It didn't do this before, so I'm not sure what the
problem is. On almost the same configuration on my laptop, there is no
delay...

Are you differences just Vista versus Windows 7 RTM? Reason I ask is that
it is possible that you have a 3rd party program (eg. antivirus, antispam,
firewall, .etc) that isn't compatible and is causing the slow down. To give
you an example of what happened to me is that Symantec Endpoint Protection
broke between Windows 7 RC and Windows 7 RTM. I had to wait for Symantec to
release an update before it would play nicely on the system.

Hello, I am Lana's husband and just wanted to post the fix for this problem
that I discovered after several internet searches. It appears that slow
email deleting is a documented problem after installing SP2, but it
apparently doesn't effect every system (i.e. mine works fine). There is a
hotfix that fixes the problem (verified by installing it and deleting emails;
now works fine). The hotfix number is KB970944 and is only available if
requested from Microsoft via this URL:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/970944

Also, here is the text of issue that is fixed by this hotfix:

"On a computer that is running Windows 7 RC, the Delete and Sync operations
perform slowly in Outlook 2007 after you install SP2."

Hope this helps others with this problem.
