Hi all,
My system will be working stand-alone without mouse and keyboard. I have found that boot time is about 20 seconds when keyboard is connected but is more that 60 second if it is not.
I have checked with a XP Pro and everything is ok with and without keyboard connected and I have not found anything in BIOS configuration.
Has this something to do with the XPe image?

Thanks in advance.

Fugazzi,

What part of the boot process is slow? NT Loader, kernel, services, apps?
You can always use BootVis
(http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/sysperf/fastboot/bootvis.mspx) to find
this out.

In boot.ini, do you have /FASTDETECT switch for the used arc path?
If you don't need keyboard at all, you can remove it from your image
(keyboard class driver, class installer, etc.).

Also, see if this helps

Hi Fugazzi,

Is this PS/2 keyboard, mouse?
If it is remove all PS/2 support and if you don't need keyboards for setting XPe up. You can remove support for keyboard, and mouse.

Add the following registry key to remove the need for a keyboard during
boot.

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8024prt\Parameters\Headless
REG_DWORD 0x00000001
From memory you can also adjust the timeout value with a nearby key.
