slow boot up

Mike Williams

I recently had a problem where my personal settings were
lost and then restored by Windows xp. All of my programs
and data were not affected. After the system was restored
(personal settings) the boot up when I start my computer
is extremely slow. I did a disk defragmentation and disk
cleanup. Nevertheless, it takes approximatley 5 minutes
for my computer to reach the desktop after I start my
computer. Any suggestions or remedies? Thanks.

Hi Mike,

Are you getting any error messages? Are you using Mcafee A.V.? If so you
should be getting an error message 'NT On-Access Scanner service has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience.'

Need more info to be sure if the problem is generated from Macafee. (Mcafee
Sucks)
