Slow boot up

I have just reloaded windows XP and it seems to be running well. The problem
is after the power button is pressed the normal screen appears and then the
monitor goes blank. approx 3-4 minutes later a series of bars appear in the
bottom of the screen and when these change to a solid line the computer boots
normally and quickly. I can see by the panel light on the case that the hard
drive is active intermittently whilst the screen is blank. I would appreciate
assistance with this annoying problem. Thank you.

Please make sure your video drivers are up to date as well as BIOS up to
date. That may help.

I think that 3-4 mins is in BIOS- big whiye line filling from left to
right is XP drivers loading(so I was told by EE)

If u boot from CD b4 looking at HDD & CD is in drive, Its gotta read
cd to see if its bootable so remove floppies & cd b4 booting.

Look at settings in BIOS- may be an option to roll back or set to
default. Its not obvious what they do tho.

BIOS manuf *may* be of help or mobo/pc manuf.

Any advice is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
