I recently received a bluescreen after installing an Adobe Acrobat Reader
update (man those updates are annoying aren't they???).
Anyway, I reinstalled Windows XP Pro and while I was at it divided my single
drive into two partitions (1 for os/apps, 1 for data). In order to reinstall
Windows, I changed my BIOS settings to boot from a CD as the first option.
Once I was done, I moved this option back down the the number 4 hole (where
it was originally).
Anyway, I noticed right away that it was sort of "hanging" on a black screen
with what appears to be a white status bar along the bottom that spans the
length of the screen. I get stuck on this screen for about 3-5 minutes. If
I remember correctly, I saw this screen for about 10 seconds with my previous
install.
After installing my Video, Sound, Network, Intel, and Keyboard/Mouse
drivers, I thought it might be fixed, but no luck. I downloaded all
updates/security patches, still no luck...
I am running out of things to try, but I really don't want a 3-5 minute boot
time.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
TIA...
