Slow boot, almost no hard disk activity during Win XP splash screen

I have a HP Pavillion 4250e

AMD Athlon 64 4000+
1GB DDR-SDRAM
Nvidia GeForce 6800
2 x 230GB HDD
1 x 150GB Personal Media Drive
SB X-fi
Win XP home SP2 (Original)

When the Win XP splash screen appears the hard disk slows down and
ther´s no much sound from it at all during about 1:30min. Then the
hard disk works and I get to the desktop quickly.

How do I cut boot time? It´s almost like it´s waiting for something
during more than 1:30mins before "the real boot-up" starts....

I´ve already tried virusscans, cleaning registries, shutting down
unnecessary autostart programs etc.
I´ve downloaded Bootvis.exe to see if there´s a long time before the
HDD initiates but I only get the message "The number of physical drives

are 0...".

Any suggestions?

There's a program I've used before. Google for it under the name "Driver
Heaven Tune XP 1.5".... it's a good program, and has some good ways to speed
boot up by moving your boot files to the fastest area of your disk (defrag,
but only for files used at boot up), and many other ways to make your bootup
faster.

I wasn't having a problem with a slow boot, I used this program for other
features. But after using the boot up tools, it knocked off 20 seconds of my
boot time to welcome screen.

You seem to have done most clean up options.
1:30 isnt the end of the world, switch PC on, make coffee and return
