Slow and non responsive PC

Chris

I have a Compaq Presario that has been extremely slow lately and often gives
me the program not responding can anyone help as to where I should begin? I
notice that the problems happen most often when I have Microsoft Outlook
express open. The primary usage for this computer is web surfing and my
children are constantly playing games on it. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I know this is very general information to start with but I can
always elaborate more with answers once I know what the questions are!!

Thank you in advance
Chris

Start with a really thorough search for malware.

Hi Chris.... With kids and surfing on web it sounds like a good cleanup is in
order. I think you'll get alot of replies...and help. I know with kids they
install alot of games etc etc that are just building up on your pc, so go to
control panel, add remove, and uninstall everything that isn't necessary.
After that, empty internet cache, defrag and scan disk. Also, you can go to
download.com and install CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) "its free". A great cleaner
that cleans EVERYTHING left behind and a "Scan for Issues" which helps solve
alot of problems. Good LUck!
