Sloooooow Windows Startup

OS WIN XP is SO slow opening I could run downtown and have
a 7 course dinner and be back in time to see it finish.
I've turned off everything in DAD (whatever THAT is)
except WP9. Tried turning off Norton Auto Protect until
after loading windows. No improvement. WAUGHHHHHH! Anybody
got any suggestions?

at run type " msconfig " at the new window, go
to "startup" tab then "disable all", or if you see a
program that you know you want to start up everytime you
reboot then leave it, next exit and press restart now,
when it starts up a dialog box will come up press do not
show again, if all runs well COOL, if not just go back
and enable anything you need. next in control panel go to
system then advanced and performance, and you can choose
to get rid of some visual effects you dont want all in
all good luck
