Slipstreaming sp2 with unbootable set up disk

Slipstreaming sp2 with one's original xp set up disk will
only work if that disk was bootable, I understand.

One thing I haven't seen covered yet in this forum is how
to perform slipstreaming if the
original installation cd was not bootable. That is, it has
not got the necessary
boot record on it. I happen to have such a cd with the
result that to install or reinstall windows I need to
make use of the traditional 6 floppy disk method.

Can the boot record required for slipstreaming perhaps
be found on one of these floppies or are these boot
records downloadable from
somewhere? I'm sure I'm not the only one with an
unbootable installation cd.

In case you want to ask: no it is not my BIOS that is at
fault. It has been set so
that my PC can boot from the cd rom drive. It is genuinely
my Windows
installation disk that is not bootable.

Many thanks for any advice.

All legitimate Windows XP installation CDs are bootable.
If yours is not bootable, its probably a copy. One should
only use an authentic, original, Windows XP CD with the
edge-to-edge holographic image.

The Windows XP CD-ROM has a hologram on its surface.
When tilted in the light, the hologram (a three-dimensional image)
displays a product name and product-specific graphics from the
hub to the outer edge of the CD.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

As Carey said, "ALL" legitimate Windows XP CD's are bootable. You most
likely have a copy, a bad one at that, since whoever copied it didn't even
make it bootable :-(

Thanks for the relpies. I have now checked my cd again and have verified that it
is indeed genuine and thus bootable. I must have set my BIOS up incorrectly in
the past.

Johannes.
