after running this command:

NameOfSPFile.exe /integrate:c:\FolderContainingMyXP-CD

the sp files are extracted but then NOTHING happens?? I don't see the update
take place and recieve no confirmation box that it was done. So I can only
assume nothing happened.

anyone know whats up here? again the box showing the file extraction take
place comes up and finishes.. but then nothing. I'm using a windows 2000
server sp4 machine to store the files and run the command from.

any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Couldn't agree more!

Autostreamer is the best way to make a slipstreamed version of SP2.

There's an issue with trying to build a slipstreamed XP CD on a Win2k box -
I just read the KB article last night - hmm - what was that number?? No, it
was at www.jsinc.com - Tip 8863 - see below:
8863 » You cannot use the /integrate switch to slipstream Windows XP SP2
into a folder with Windows XP on a Windows 2000 computer?

When you attempt to use Windows 2000 to slipstream (/integrate switch)
Windows XP Service Pack 2 into a folder that contains the files and folders
from a Windows XP CD-ROM, you cannot.
To workaround this problem:

01. Open a CMD.EXE window.

02. Copy the contents of the Windows XP product CD-ROM to C:\WXP_SlipStream.

03. Download Windows XP SP2.

04. Copy the download WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe to C:\WXP_SP2.

05. Type CD /D C:\WXP_SP2 and press Enter.

06. Type WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe /x and press Enter.

07. Type C:\WXP_SP2_X and press OK.

08. Type CD /D C:\WXP_SP2_X and press Enter.

09. Type cd i386\update and press Enter.

10. Type ren setupapi.dll setupapi.old and press Enter.

11. Type update.exe /integrate:C:\WXP_SlipStream and press Enter.

NOTE: If desired, you may know delete C:\WXP_SP2 and/or C:\WXP_SP2_X.

The download link on the AutoStreamer page seems to be broken. Go to the
forum and use the download link there, which does work.

thank you! I will likely start using one of the auto streaming utilities as
suggested but I really don't like not knowing the cause of an issue. Drives
me nutty! Thanks again! by the way... the double post was because I had
obtained more enough and thought the second post would be a more specific
question to a more narrowed down problem which would be more likely to be
answered. This is because originally I was running the /integrate switch and
posted the problem. But then I tried the seperate steps with the /x and then
/s: ect... so it looked like the specific problem was with launching
update.exe...

thanks again!

will do. Thanks.

Go to www.autopatcher.com and get their AutoStreamer program and use it to
do the slipstreaming.

any of you know if the AutoStreamer also includes the updated support and
deploy tools when it creates the updated iso?

I used the SP2 cd and AutoStreamer wanted the executable file, not the
contents of the cd. The tools were in one of the other folders, so I don't
see how they would be slipstreamed in.

ok. thanks.
