Sorry if this has been asked and answered before.

I am looking for options for that will create a slideshow
on VCD/DVD:

Background music
Voice (narration) per slide
Zoom and pan

Have looked at PhotoStory and bought the
$20 one, but found it lacking in some basics.
Not looking for super complicated, but would
be nice to add picts and maybe do some limited
editing.

Is there anything out there that will do this sort
of thiing? Jasc's is nice, but doesn't take
the narration to the VCD... slideshow.

Thanks

Take a look at Roxio Easy Media Creator version 7.

Everything you want except zoom and pan. The zoom and pan of photo story is
fine if you play the file on your PC, not so good when you play it on your
TV because the motion is jerky and the picture blurry unless you zoom and
pan very slowly.

Thanks, I'll ck it out.

BTW..... I just d/l'd the update to MS Photostory and
it is greatly improved from when I bought it.... especially
the ability to control manually zoom and pan and then
to be able to go back and edit (chg narration, add more
jpgs, etc) is a real plus. It ain't perfect, but I've seen
very little that is.

Thanks again. I have Roxio 6 and also Nero 6, but haven't
ck'd out the new version of Roxio.

I agree. I like the new version of photo story. It does some neat things.
But I mainly use it to e-mail some pictures to my grandsons. Try some of
your files on VCD in your DVD player on your TV before spending a lot of
time. I was not impressed with the quality of the image on my TV and
particularly the blurring with fast zoom and pan. This feature is great (and
I don't think available in any other software) but it works well only when
displaying on a PC. Possibly you have a better DVD player and a better TV
and to reduce the blurring, do your zoom and pan slowly.

You're right.
The image quality is not too good.
I think it is really just images converted to a movie.

So far, I have tried quite few and the players
just don't seem to like the indiv pictures.
I have tried jasc and am about to give up.

I have Nero, but no voice over
Will try Roxio when I get a chance.

Take care

John, I was not aware of Sound Recorder. Never used it. So much stuff under
the hood of XP!

Actually that feature has been around for a while...
I'm pretty certain I used in in Windows 3.1.

Anyway...that's why I love the newsgroups...I learn
something new everyday.

Cheers.
