Slideshow for Lowest Common Denominator?

I have read up on creating CDs that will autorun a slideshow of photos, but
would such a CD run properly on earlier versions of Windows? In other
words, would the version of Windows need to be taken into consideration when
creating the slideshow? Thanks!

You read correctly. In order to do this, go to the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Download the Slideshow.exe file into one of your folder or make a new folder
and save the file there.
Open the folder, double click on the slideshow.exe file to install it.
Now, when you copy photos to CDs using XP, the wizard will ask you if you
want this autorun feature. You just answer yes. Three files will be added to
the CD to start a slide show automatically. Will work as far back as Windows
95.
