Slides flicker when loading

I have had some problems when using powerpoint. Often when loading between slides, the screen/window will flicker and repeatedly refresh the images and text. This occures regardless of wheither there are images. The computer is a dual processor machine, and the refreshing doesn't occur any other time. I was using Office XP but upgraded to 2003 hoping that this would relsove my problems. What can I do?

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

We have seen this occur when there is some incompatibility in the display
driver which is exposed at the higher hardware acceleration settings for
the driver.

Try reducing the setting in the display control panel:

1) Open "Display" control panel
2) In "Settings" tab click on the "Advanced" button
3) In the "Troubleshoot" tab reduce the level of "Hardware acceleration"
and click "Apply"
4) Repeat step 4 until flashing stops, then click "OK"

TAJ,

It's when I edit the pages. I'm going to try adjusting
the hardware settings on the video card as instructed by
John, but if you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.
