slide transitions on powerpoint

Michael

I have received a .ppt file which I have to show using PowerPoint 2000. The
transitions use manual timing (i.e.'click' to change),are very simple, almost
all being 'Appear' but on several slides I'm getting a very short 'trailer'
of the last few characters or even just a 'full stop' before the rest of the
image appears. I've tried it in two computers with the same result but it
runs OK on my friend's machine. Can you please suggest how i can tidy this
up as it looks very messy. Thank you.

PowerPoint 2002 added some transition effects. So a presentation created in
a newer version than 2000 might contain transitions which it cannot show. Do
you know which version of PowerPoint your friend used? If he used any
animations your version cannot show, it might be necessary to delete them
(and replace them with a transition PPT 2000 is capable of).

Or - if the presentation contains no macros - download and install the free
PPT 2003 viewer and use that instead of the PPT 2000 full version.

Best regards,
Ute

Do you have any add-ins installed - like crystal graphics?

Many of these graphics add-ins will disrupt the smoothness of the
transitions on less than top-of-the-line computers.

Also, you may want to try adjusting the graphics accelerations settings on
your computer. More acceleration does not always mean smoother graphics.
