Slide transition changes before the set time

I am using PowerPoint 2000 . The slide transition is set to 50 seconds but
the slide changes at 20 seconds . There is some animation and narration
attached to the slide but it does not complete the narration as the slide
changes too early . The narration is fine when I run it by itself ??????????

Click on Slide Show, Rehearse Timings to adjust the timings of your
animations and slide transitions.

I am having the same problem. I have changed the timings, but it doesn't
seem to take effect. It shows the new timing, but when it's run on
slideshow, it does not run the extended timeframe.
