Slide show

I save photos (both digital & scaned) in `My Pictures`
where they are organised into files. Within the files
they are arranged in date or subject order for a `slide
show` on my computer.
However, when copying onto CD (for a slide show on
another computer) or when printing an`index` sheet the
order reverts to the original. Selecting all photos &
copying to disc or print, rather than just clicking on
the file does not seem to solve the problem.
How can I ensure that photos will be copied or printed in
the same order in which they are filed?

The best way to keep files in sequence is to
number them.

You can *batch* re-number them (this will eliminate
your name for the image) Select the group
(Edit / Select All) ...Right Click the first image and
choose rename...enter a base name like
Birthday (1).JPG...windowsxp will auto-number the
remaining files:

Birthday (1).JPG
Birthday (2).JPG
Birthday (3).JPG

Tip: If you wish to keep your files as they are with
the current names...you could make a copy of the
folder and rename the copied files...then yours
would remain as they are now.

Another method:

If you wish to retain your file names...you can add
numbers like the following:

For a numbering system that should be
universal, try renaming your files this way:

Kelly,Sara,Heather0002.jpg

If the file names are different...you can
still sort by number if you place the number
first.

0002Mary,Betty,Brenda.jpg

When you go to two or three digits...remove
the equal number of zeros.

0001
0010
0100

If you're going above 999, add an additional
zero to each file.

00001
00010
00100
01000

You can add a space between the letters
and numbers if you wish and also you can
use parenthesis.
