Slide Show won't advance

When I try to run a PowerPoint slide show, the first slide appears but I
cannot advance to other slides using the mouse or the keyboard or the
right-click context menu. The program isn't frozen as I can change the
screen to white or black, highlight the slide, or end the show.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 and Office 2003 SP2.

I have tried lowering the screen resolution to 640 by 480, which did not
solve the problem, but gives me a pretty grainy slide...

Are the other slides hidden?

You can look in Slide Sorter View. If you see a grey line through the slide
number, it's been hidden.

Also try Slide Show|Set Up Show and see what is listed in the Show Slides
area.
