Slide Show moves forwards or backwards on its own

I have just started using Powerpoint 2003. If a slide is left up for a
sometime it moves either back to the previous one or on to the next slide
without using the arrow keys or the mouse. How can I stop this? Thank you.

Eddy,
Activate the slide transition task pane (View - task panes - click on the
arrow on top of the task pane - choose slide transition).
At the bottom you should see two possibilities to move to the next slide,
first on click, second automatically after, if there is a check next to that
box with a timing added, uncheck it and click apply to all slides. If you
don't want to loose the timings that have been set, go to Slide show - Setup
show - activate the radio button to advance slides by hand instead of using
timings.

Do you have a wireless mouse or a presenter tool attached?
You checked all the slides and none are set to auto advance?
You are not presenting in Kiosk mode?

Just checking basics ....

I'm set on "Presented by a speaker" and all slides transition with the
mouse. I am using a wireless mouse. The slides mostly go backwards only
occasionally forwards.

If you disconnect the wireless mouse and turn off your Bluetooth, does the
problem persist?

I tried removing the wireless mouse and that solved the problem. I then tried
a different wireless mouse and it works fine.

Great Teddy! (I have this mental image of Poo-bear bulked up like Arnold.
Weird what goes through one's mind, isn't it?)

I'm glad it is resolved.

If you have the time and are willing to beat your head against a wall for
the good of mankind, you could try to file a bug report with the wireless
mouse manufacturer.

Also, so that we can help the next poor soul, could you tell us the brand
and model of the wireless mouse?

The mouse that worked is a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 and the one
the didn't is a Technika Wireless Optical Mouse Model H16BC1.
