Slide Navigation Controls not appearing

I just created a new presentation in PP 2007 and followed these steps to save
it as an html presentation with navigation controls: File, Save As, Other
Formats, Save as type—Web Page; Publish button—Web Options button—General
Tab, Add slide navigation controls; Files tab—Organize supporting files in a
folder; Publish. However, when I preview the presentation, I do not see the
usual left pane with the slide navigation hyperlinks. I have other
presentations that started originally as PP 2003 presentations that have the
controls. Am I doing something wrong? All help greatly appreciated.

I answered my own question and learned some things that might help others.
You must have at least two slides for any links to show up as navigation
controls. If you apply a theme that uses a font that looks like WordArt, has
blurred edges, the content of the title box will not show up as a link in the
navigation pane no matter what you do--who knows why!

To get any text in the navigation control pane, you must have text typed in
a title box. One way to assure that you have a title box and have text in it
is to do this: Home tab, Slides, group, Layout down arrow, Titles Only; type
title in this box. Click Web Page Preview button on Quick Access toolbar to
see if links are there. Copying/pasting a title box from one slide to another
is not reliable. Insert one title box each time for each slide. When I want a
title box but don't want it to show on the page, I hide the title slide
behind a graphic so I would still get a link but not the words showing. I
type main headings in all caps so that they stand out in the left pane as
opposed to title boxes for subtopics of main headings.
