Slide Layout Bar is invisible

Hello,

I am using Powerpoint 2003 German language edition on Windows XP
professional service pack 2 (German edition).

I can access the slide layout pane, however I cannot see any of the layouts
themselves. The spots in which the layouts should be are completely blank, so
I cannot tell which layout is which. The layout bar however is still active
in that I can still select different layouts, however more by luck than
anything else.

If anyone could help me shed light on this problem it would be most
appreciated.

thankyou

I still think it's an add-in or conflicting software. Some users have
reported that PPT is okay until they start other Office applications. Or
maybe it's if they start PPT before starting other Office applications?
Anyway, that makes me think there's some other add-in/software in general
causing the problem.

What add-ins are loaded?

You could try these options to see what PPT add-ins you have. That might
give us something to look for, anyway.

I had the EndNote trial for Word installed, but that didn't cause the
missing thumbnails here. I did manage to get missing thumbnails once with
the Glass.POT template -- but I'm pretty sure it was related to a
combination of low resources (I had a TON of other stuff opened at the time)
and video driver/hardware acceleration issues. I restarted PPT, and I've
never been able to repro it.
