Apply slide layout doesn't list all layouts in master

PowerPoint 2007: After viewing the master, I see several slide layouts which
do not show in the drop down menu available from: Home->Slides->Layout &
right click on slide->Layout. I have attempted to create a new master and
also attempted to rename the layout of interest, but I've had no success. Is
there a limit on the number of layouts that will show in this drop down menu?
Is there a way to select which layouts will show? Is there another way to
apply a slide layout?

What layouts do you see in Master View that are missing in Home | Slides |
Layout? I know there are a couple that seem to be used only in Asian
versions -- and then only for print. Also, the master slide itself won't
show in the Home | Slides | Layout gallery, but its name will.

Can you scroll in the gallery? Maybe you're just not able to see them all
because you have many?

What types of names are you using when you rename the layouts? Can you add
your own layouts to an existing master and have those show in the gallery?

In this case, I am using the "Student Presentation" template available via
download from the Microsoft website. The master shows two layouts, "Title
and Vertical Text" & "Vertical Title and Text" that are not available from
Home->Slides->Layout.

I am unable to scroll in the gallery.

When I attempted to rename the layouts to see if I could force them to show,
I tried names such as "Malina 1," etc.

When I added my own layout, it did show in the menu. So as a temp fix I can
add a layout and copy my desired layout graphics into the new custom layout.

I am having this exact problem and have not been able to find an answer. I
am using PPT 2007 SP2. When I go to View > Presentation Views > Slide Master
there are 14 different layouts. When I close the master view and go to Home
Slides > Layout there are only 11 available, with no scroll bar, so I AM
seeing them all. One of the specific layouts that is missing is called
"Title and Vertical Text" in the master view.

Hi Amy

I believe the vertical text layouts are only available if you have Japanese
enabled on your computer.

"Title and Vertical Text" and "Vertical Title and Text" are layouts that are
used on systems with Asian languages enabled. If you enable, say, Japanese
on your system, you will see those layouts in the gallery on the Home tab.

I used to tell people to just delete those slide layouts in Master View, but
people at Microsoft have told me not to advise that. These layouts are
apparently really useful and necessary if you're sharing files with people
worldwide.
