When I walk away from my computer it is showing a web-page or whatever it's
showing. When I return X mins later, the WinXP screen saver is on. When I
move my mouse the original page re-shows.

Question:

What is this "mode" called ?

Can this be turned off?

If so, where can I disable it?

Thx

This is called "screen saver active" mode. Right click the Desktop, select
Properties, Screen Saver and set the screen saver to none.

Hi,

It's called sleep, and there are varying levels of it. What precisely is it
that you wish to have the machine do?

Have it remain on the page when I walked away--not the screen saver.

Thx guys that worked!! Success :)

It is a screen saver.
From the desk top right click and then choose properties.
Net click on the screensaver tab and then chose None in
the screen saver drop down list. Finally click on apply
and on okay.
Once you do this, your computer will not go into screen
saver mode.

So change the time out value - right click desktop, properties, screen
saver, 'power' button.
