sleep mode

Can not get my computer to come out of sleep mode using mouse or keyboard
except pressing the momentary reset button on the CPU.

BIOS is set to allow wakeup using mouse or keyboard.

When in sleep, if I move the mouse, hard disk light and keyboard flashes,
but screen remains blank and hard disk light remains on.

What gives?

Vista has a significant number of problems resuming from sleep or hibernate
modes. The problems are worse on older hardware and on those machines
upgraded from previous versions of Windows. Your best bet, until a Vista
service pack is released, is to avoid these modes if possible, buy new
hardware or rebuild your current hardware with Vista and reinstall your
applications and data. Making sure you have the latest Vista-certified
drivers is also key.

In my experience, I only solved the problem by purchasing new hardware and
reinstalling Vista from scratch. An expensive proposition to be sure and the
cure was arguably worse than the disease!

Stuart.
