hi

pretty much self explained topic in subject...

when i just installed vista on my laptop (ibm thinkpad x31) it was working,
then it stoped then it came back (all by itself, as i didnt do anything) and
now it's gone again and i really need to hybernate my computer not to power
off it all the time, its one of those not super fast computers and power off
and starting it up again takes a long time.

can someone help me to figure out what i can do in order to fix this issue?

thank you in advance

I noticed once that my sleep button was different while Vista was
downloading updates. when I hovered the cursor over it, the tip had changed
to somehing about shutting downafter updates were finished. Maybe that's
what you noticed.

I notice similar problems. Every so often, and I can't find what triggers
it, hibernation mode disappears and I have to go to a command prompt and
type

powercfg -h on

to get it back.

Possibly you've been using Disk Cleanup - be careful to uncheck the
hibernation file, or cleanup will delete it.

Arrgggg! That's what's been doing it! I've been using Windows Live OneCare
and like an IDIOT have been selecting to delete that file. I always though
it was something left over it didn't need. Now I know better!

Thank You - Thank You - Thank You :-)
