slave drive

My os is windows xp home.I installed a new hard drive as primary and my old
one as a slave with correct jumber settings,but often the slave drive
disappears from my computer reboot and reappears run diagnostics test and the
drive is healthy check all cables there are ok.Any ideas what is going on?

Are you saying it dissapears on reboot? or that it dissapears and the PC
reboots?
When it dissapears does Disk Management show anything

When it dissapears the drive is not showing in Disk Management, and when i
reboot it reappears in my computer and Disk Management
