Skipping Video Playback

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with video on my new computer. Every minute or so, it
jumps/skips a few seconds furthur on, and therefore I miss a bit of the
video. This is obviously very annoying and I don't know what the problem
could be. It happens on DVDs through PowerDVD, as well as on AVI, DIVX, and
MPG through Windows Media Player, and through other media players I have
tried, so it is not a specific file, or program. I have tried reinstalling
DirectX but to no avail, and now have DX9 installed. Winamp plays all audio
files perfectly.

I have XP Pro with SP1 and all updates from WindowsUpdate installed. I have
an Athlon XP 2800+ with 1gb RAM so I doubt that it doesn't have enough power
to decode the videos. I also have a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 with two monitors
connected up to it. My other hardware is an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard and a
creative soundcard. I have also tried closing all TSR programs.

Please offer me some advice on how to fix this problem! It is really buggin
me!

TIA, Arc
