Size of OS partition too small

I have Windows 2000 Server set up in a partion C: drive of
4GB formated NTFS. All other applications are loaded onto
different drives where possible. Due to continuous
Microsoft updates I am fast filling up the C: partition.
How can I make more space, what files can I safely delete
or can I increase the partion size. Please help.

You can try some or all of the following:

1. Get a 3rd party utility (like ServerMagic from powerquest.com) that
will let you manipulate partition sizes non-destructively. W2k has no
such native capability. Backup carefully before using any such product,
just in case you make a mistake, power goes off in mid-operation, etc.
The PowerQuest products I've used are very reliable, but no product can
protect you from the abovementioned situations, which can be
catastrophic. There are other such utilities, perhaps less expensive; be
sure they work on servers before purchasing (Powerquest, a few versions
of PartitionMagic ago, crippled that product's ability to work on servers.)

2. MOVE "uninstall" files that you want to keep for possible future use
to other partitions, making note of what and where so you can move them
back if ever necessary. DELETE any such files you're positive you'll
never want to use. These uninstall files can be quite large.

3. DELETE various temp files, when you've determined they're really not
necessary.
