Single Quotes Added to Email Address

Hi,

Is there any way to shut off the feature where Outlook adds single quotes
around an email address for a new message? While it does not cause any issues
with the delivery of the message, it is annoying to have my responses to
clients split up between addresses with the quotes and addresses without
them. I'm constantly having to look in multiple places to find critical
emails. FYI, I am using outlook 2003.

Thanks,
Sridhar

Hi Diane,

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me why the single quotes getting added to
email for the internal user for a new mail and how to prevent that?

Thanks,
Sridhar

No, unfortunately you can't change that. Advanced find with the email
address added in the field on the first tab will find all from that person.

It means the address is not in your contacts folder (or the senders contacts
folder). If a message arrives with the address in quotes and you reply,
outlook uses the quotes and never checks your contacts.

They can get added by either client in a long back and forth because outlook
isn't reading the address from the contracts but from the message. I've
never had it happen with addresses only in the GAL but have seen it when
there is a contact record in addition to the GAL entry (and the users are
using an outside SMTP server).
