HI. I am trying to set up a link between two computers, one running winXP
and one running win98, they are linked by ethernet ports with a crossover
cable. I want to share a cable internet connection as well as files and a
printer. Does any one know a good link to give a newbie step by step
instructions to do this? This is the first time I have posted to any kind of
a group, so please bear with me. Thanks in advance for any help.

Here are a few websites with useful tutorials:

For File sharing, may be this can help: http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As far as Internet Sharing, you might want to look first at the general
options and decide what to do; since you have Cable Internet, you might find
a better option than crossover cable.

Hubs, routers, switches, DSL, LANs, WANs...? -

The page above was written by me ages ago. You might ignore the prices and
Brand recommendations. The principles however are still the same.
