Simple encryption program wanted

Can anyone recommend a simple encryption program that will encrypt a single
file or a folder and will produce a self-decrypting file if required. I
have Googled but am suffering information overload! A right click option
would be nice - simpler the better. I do not need heavy encryption power.

Perhaps Axcrypt is what you want. Its free, easy to use, and can encrypt to
an .EXE.

Most any of the archiving programs can do this and create self extracting
password protevted files. I use 7-zip.

BCArchive works well. You cen even send an self-contained, encrypted file
to someone for decryption with your key, but without them having to install
BCArchive.
