simple desktop problem

hi can ne1 help me plz?
i have a problem with my desktop, am sure it will be quite easy to solve. i have recently noticed that the icons on my desktop have edges around them and the writing in my backgroud colour (what ever colour i choose.) Where as i just want the icons to sit on my background wall paper!! i do not know how to get ride of the colour, or how to "wrap around" my desktop picture.
plz help this is really irritating

Right-click the desktop and see if 'Lock Web Items on Desktop' is selected.
This can also happen if you have web content on the desktop.

hi, thanks, but i need more info plz, wot do u mean by web content, thing i have save to the desktop from the net, or wot???

Hi Mav,

Start/Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/ Visual
Effects/"Use drop shadows for icon labels on the Desktop"

Also:

Right click the desktop and select Arrange Icons by. Towards the bottom of
that list, uncheck "Lock web items on the desktop."

Go to Control Panel - System - Advanced - Performance; click Settings -
and in the Custom Visual effects, uncheck 'Show drop shadows for icon
labels. . .' near the bottom.

BTW I would also uncheck the top ten items - eye candy some of which
takes far more cpu resources that is justified
