"Simple CD Burning?"

Is there some configuration option in Vista to make CD burning work the way
it does in Windows XP? Specifically:

How do I send files to the burn queue without having a blank in the drive?
How do I create a queue and burn them all when I'm ready?

The Help content about this is terrible -- I have no idea why Vista
sometimes prompts me for the type of CD to create and at other times it does
not. Nor do I understand why I occasionally see temporary files for burning
but can't create them intentionally.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I can't answer why Vista does that, but my solution was to purchase a bare
bones copy of Roxio Easy CD Creator (I've had previous troubles with Nero so
I don't use it). I didn't get the version that has all the movie editor,
photo editor, etc., in it. Anyway, the EZ Creator comes with a utility
called Direct-to-Disk which allows drag-and-drop to a CD or DVD RW without
going through all the hassle. I agree, Microsoft should allow this
capability in Vista; after all, we all paid for it and it should work.

Just a suggestion.

Hello Louisa,

Why not just created a new directory called " CD Burn" and place your files
inside? When your ready to burn then you just burn all your files at once?
As you know when you place a blank disk you will get a splash screen giving
you the option to Burn files to disc using Windows or any application
available for burning such as Nero or Roxio (Note, you can change the auto
default in the Control Panel). Also, Creating a Data Cd or DVD using
windows one can use Windows DVD maker which starts by asking you to choose
photos, music or videos files. If your into editing music or videos then I
would recommend getting one of the latest application such as Nero or Roxio.
