sim city 4 probs

Hello i was wondering why sim city 4 deluxe edition would install up to a certain point and then crash right at the end of the installation? Is this a common fault or could it have something to do with my computer. Which is a amd 2200 athlon, extra 512mb ram on top of 128mb,win xp pro, sp 2. not to sure of the graphics card though. any help much appreciated, Thanks
