It's such a small program why would you care if it's installed or not?

Gross Simplification: Silverlight is like Adobe Flash. Some web pages use
Adobe Flash to show animations, video, menus, etc. Some web pages use
Silverlight to show animations, video, menus, etc.

Can you uninstall it?
Yes. You can uninstall almost anything you want on your machine. You could
start running Ubuntu instead of Windows. You could hack (or obtain a hacked
version) OS X and probably get it to run on your system. So in the end
anything you don't want - as long as you are willing to lose whatever would
be allowed due to the presence said thing - you can remove. In this case,
perhaps this will help:
http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/get-started/install/uninstall-win.aspx

By the way - you can find information like this via Google (or other)
Internet searches.

http://www.google.com/search?q=define:Silverlight
and
http://www.google.com/search?q=how+do+I+uninstall+Silverlight

with a little reading through (scanning) of the search results can lead you
to essentially what I told you in a few minutes. ;-)

That's for sure, but isn't this newsgroup in existence to answer questions
like that?
Just wondering....

Silverlight is as "useful" as Stop & Turn Lights on the back of
your jeans or skirt.

I've seen people who would benefit from that...

Silverlight has evolved well beyond a multimedia implementation and is
evolving into a solution to develop Rich Internet Applications
enterprise level business solutions for corporate Web and Windows
desktop applications that are Web centric.

Strangely - didn't change what I said at all.
Many enterprise level web pages utilize flash as well. ;-)

But they are also able to use Sliverlight WCF RIA using a
UI/MVP/BLL/WCF/DAL in a SOA infrastructure that has nothing to do with
adobe or multimedia. That's where the bang for the buck is at it.

However, Netflex uses Silverlight for on demand movie watching for
customers -- multimedia.

For once I find myself agreeing with you Stan. Silverlight is DOA.
