Silverlight update will not go away

I cannot seem to get "Update for Microsoft Silverlight (KB957938)" to
actually install. I go thru the install process ok it seems, but the next
day, Windows XP will be asking to install it again.

Every time I go to install this Silverlight update, I get a msg saying "Easy
Media Creator 7 - Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 has been detected, would you
like to install the product now?" I have had this installed on my system
forever.) I let update EMC, which is says is successful. Then I get the
normal WinXP Installation complete dialog box which I close to a summary that
says the installation was successful. But running Microsoft update again
tells me I have this Silverlight update outstanding still.

What's going on here and how to I get this update to stop annoying me?

Uninstall Silverlight via Add/Remove Programs.

Reinstall Silverlight, if desired, via http://www.microsoft.com/SILVERLIGHT/

I have had the same problem with "Update for Microsoft Silverlight
(KB960353)" and have uninstalled Silverlight. Before I reinstall it, do I
need it? In other words, what does it do? Gareth.

Only you can decide if you "need" it (but I can assure you that your
computer doesn't need it); cf.
