"signing on" MyMSN

OK, so I click the "e" on my task bar and the screen
for "MyMsn" comes up telling me I have to sign in to my
passport account - but at the same time I get another
little window popping up telling me that I have 6 e-mail
messages (in my passport account).
Why do I have to sign in to Passport when it obviously is
open or I wouldn't be notified about my e-mail?
Help - confused.

you must of deleted your cookies. cookies contain the info
that you were there before.

Then why does it do it after I reload my password for
Passport? After I log off (disconnect from the internet)
why am I able load the MyMsn window and the little e-mail
notification window too?
And if I've deleted my cookies, how can it sign me into
Messenger and not MyMsn?
