Signature produces "prevents running Active X controls" message

I often insert a signature into emails and when I do, I get a "your security settings prohibits running active x controls on this page" message

How do I create a signature without active x controls? O

What security settings will permit me to use my signature

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I've seen this to be a problem when the signature contains a SmartTag.
Remove the SmartTag and it goes away.

I don't know what a smart tag is and don't see any reference to want when I open the signature

However, there appears to be one in the signature. When I insert it, just above the text, an empty box with sizing handles appears

How do I get rid of smart tags.

Smart tags were introduced in Office XP as a way of automatically parsing
text in documents and linking that text with other information. If you don't
use them, you can disable them in Word -- Tools | AutoCorrect Options, on
the Smart Tags tab.

Text that has been recognized as a smart tag will have a dotted purple
underline in Word. If you hover your mouse over the text, a popup "i" icon
will appear. Point to it, then click the small down arrow that appears.
You'll see an option on the menu for "Remove This Smart Tag."

Also note: The newsgroup interface you are using apparently does not quote
earlier messages in the thread, making your latest message so short on
detail that you risk not getting the answer you're looking for. Please take
the time to quote the original message.
