Signature not being inserted in new mail

I have created the same signature for both replying & new mail.
when I reply, the signature automatically appears. When i choose a new
email, no signature appears unless I go to the signature button on the ribbon
tab & choose the signature to insert.
This should, though, be done automatically.
How can I fix this?

John - I was having a similar problem with multipme email accounts in Outlook
2007. After a little research on this forum I determined that the default
account not having a signature was the root of the problem, so I added one
(even though it was blank) and everything seems to work fine now...
