Signature is not displayed after being inserted into Word 2003 doc

I have a user who has composed a standard document in which she has inserted
an image file (.JPG) of the signature that she wishes to use. After doing so,
the signature box shows up but displays nothing inside. If you Print Preview
or Print the document, the signature displays just fine. Anyone have any idea
why this would happen?
