Signature Files Location

Woody

I am posting this question on this forum, because there are no Windows 2000
forums in the main list, hope someone can help.
I have a signature set up in windows XP and the files are located in:
C:\Documents & Settings\<username.domain>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Signatures.
This is fine and working, but where are the files supposed to go in Windows
2000?
I know it is posted on the XP section but as i said there is no Windows 2000
forum.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Make a signature with Outlook. Then search for "signatures" to find out
where the folder is in W2K.

Hi Woody,

You should be able to put the file anywhere (usually where your data is
stored, not where MS is storing it). Most mail clients have a Browse
button to attach a sig file.

The problem with MS clients and sig files is well documented and not
recommended. MS clients insert a delimiter, which is a dash dash space
("-- ") before the sig file. Using a delimiter should ONLY be used when
the sig file is placed at the end of the post, because proper
newsreaders remove EVERYTHING from the delimiter down. Since MS clients
by default reply at the top, prior replies are completely stripped.

If you want to use a sig file, use a good newsreader like Mozilla
Thunderbird. It properly knows when to use a delimiter.
