Sidewinder Drivers & WIN XP

I can only find drivers for WIN 95 & WIN 98-no WIN XP. I
am upgrading to WIN XP. Will my SideWinder(gameport model)
work properly in WIN XP automatically? If not, where can I
get the correct software for it. Will it use the
software ,on the old CD ROM Disk, that came with the
GamePad?

They are built into XP.

Connect joystick to PC, go to the Control Panel and click on Game
Controllers. Use the AutoDetect feature and XP will install the built in
drivers.

OK, but how do I map the joypad then? Lets say, the recent Prince of Persia
game gives only Thrustmaster as an option. It is not possible to use any MS
joystick or pad with this game. Dont we need a new software? Why Microsoft
is so lazy in supporting its hardware? "You've got XP, its built in it, go
configure" is not an option here.
